THE BEST REACTION EVER

“OCD is like having a bully stuck inside your head and nobody else can see it.” — Krissy McDermott“

In the second Sophomore STEAM class called Disease. We are in unit II is called mind. In this unit, we learned about the different disorders of the brain for example autism. we even read a book by a thirteen-year-old autistic child named Naoki called the Reason I Jump. In this book, we learned about compassion towards people with mental illness.

We chose a disorder from the DSM-V. I chose obsessive compulsive disorder to study in class so we can get and idea as to how it feels to have each of our disease’s. We also watched videos on our disorders. Afterward we learned about our disease we made a lesson plan and a stimulation to explain what it is like to have the disorder. My stimulation shows an image that represents the obsession. To be obsessed with this image may cause them to clean or to repeat certain behaviors in order to make that obsession go away. For a short period of time while they do that behavior this is called a compulsion.

Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a disorder where The people with this order is obsessed with something for example in my simulation seeing that picture could be your obsession. If you see this image you have anxiety and to make that go away you have to close the door every day twice in order to make that thought go away for a short period of time. Or Psychiatry. of or relating to a neurosis characterized by persistent intrusion of unwanted thoughts (obsessions) or the performance of actions, as repeated hand-washing, that one is unable to stop (compulsions). I also showed a video of someone with an Obsessive compulsive disorder and they portray the thoughts in their head. here is the link to the video.

Suggestions

My suggestions for people with the obsessive compulsive disorder should go to therapy and see if they can solve the problem by working through your problem. Another suggestion for people that may have the Obsessive compulsive disorder is to go to the doctor and make sure that you have it. My last suggestion is to don’t give up and that there are people like you everywhere and they can help you with things that even your family can’t understand.

Jigsaw's resolution

"Some call this Karma I call it justice"- Jigsaw

In unit 1 second STEM Sophomore class called Forbidden Books. We have finished our first unit called Politics. In this unit, we learned about why books are banned or censored for political reasons. Another example of things we learned was the Socratic method which is to make people think critically. Lastly, we learned about  how to become a Gadfly which is a person that make someone act by criticism. The Socratic Method can also be considered a danger because it can make people think beyond the uniform way of thinking. This Project is of Socratic dialogue on what people think justice is. In this dialogue, I used Jigsaw from the movie series SAW as person that need to think critically about his idea of Justice

The battle with our bodies

“I didn’t even noticed I felt normal until I looked in the mirror and saw a liquid coming out”
- Charles Conjunctivitis (Pink Eye)

 Overview

This is the second Sophomore STEAM class is called Disease. We are in our first unit which is called Body.In disease we discussed cancer. We also learned how to determine what is in blood.Another thing we did was learning to classify diseases and the eleven systems of the body. This action project is about disease. We were told to research a disease that someone we know had and to interview them and how it affected them and what they did to treat it or why they couldn’t treat it. I am proud that of my drawing the most it took me at least an hour to make. I struggle with my grammar in the blog post the most. I made sure to ask my teacher to help and , I made sure read it over.

Types of Conjunctivitis
Viral Conjunctivitis: Viral conjunctivitis is when the becomes red and the conjunctiva becomes swollen it is highly contagious and is caused by non-enveloped viruses. it can not be cured with antibiotics but it will go away on its on.
Allergic conjunctivitis: Allergic conjunctivitis is called by eye allergies like to pollen. it is can be cured by eyes drops also.
Bacterial conjunctivitis:Viral conjunctivitis is a caused by bacteria into the eye or various other way. it can be cured by antibiotics eye drops or ointment.

About
Charles is a 47 year old man and father of two children. He was previously diagnosed with Pinkeye seven years ago he doesn’t have it anymore. His first symptom was Itchy eyes and later on he saw mucus coming out of his eyes. He had a cough and a runny nose. He didn’t go and get checked until a few weeks later. When he went to the doctor he was asked a few questions like, when did you notice the mucus in your eyes? and he gave him antibiotic eye drops also.
(I interviewed Charles he had Pink eye in 2009 when we were moving. I asked him a few questions about his experience and how he thinks he got the disease)
1.How did you get?
2.What symptoms did you have?
3.When did you notice the symptoms?
4.What was the the treatment ?
5.How long did you have the disease?

  Systems(affected)
Central nervous system:The central nervous system is system of cells and nerves that send signals to parts of the body.

Key terms
Conjunctiva: The membrane that covers that eye.
Membrane: A thin flexible piece of skin on the eye other parts of the body.
Conjunctivitis: Is the swelling of the eye.

Classify Conjunctivitis is classified as Transmission, because the way Charles got the disease was by touching the steering of a van. If the disease is transmissible then they can get it by airborne or waterborne or bodily fluids which for example mucus on the steering wheel.
This disease is multifactorial because, it can happen if Charles went out touched someone with viral conjunctivitis which is very contagious then he would have gotten the virus too.

 Risk factor
- Contact lens (dirt in them)
-Touching an object with the disease on it then touching your eyes.Conjunctivitis eye diagram
